Music of Life

I will have to be honest with you; one of the first things that get my attention when I listen to a song would be the beat. However, when I analyze the lyrics, I am able to appreciate the music so much more. I do not think that I have ever taken advantage of songs because I give deep thoughts into every song I have listened too. The reason why I try so hard to analyze the lyrics each song is so that I can comprehend the message that the artist is trying to send.

One of my favorite song is called “I made it” by Kevin Rudolf featuring. Birdman, Jay Sean, and Lil Wayne. This is a great song because everything about the track is powerful. For example, the beat starts off very strong, and continues in the same rhythm until the end. The chorus says “I look up to the sky, and now the world is mine, I’ve known this all my life, I made it I made, I use to dream about the life I’m living now I know that there’s no doubt, I made it I made it. I wasn’t known in the city where no one believed in me, but I never gave up a fight. Now I am on the top, I told you let to let rock, now money is falling from the sky.” The chorus alone tells the listeners how much they have struggled, but they are living the way they use to dream. The chorus also explains that they still “made it” even though there was who did not believe in them.

At the end of each chorus, the artists would tell their part of the story. When their part came up, they made the listeners know that they mean business as they recited their poetry. Just by hearing each of the artist’s tone of voice, I can tell that they are happy that they finally get to live their dreams. I also believe that this song is a celebration for all of their success. As for others such as myself, this song can be for those who has “made it” or a motivational theme for people to make it one day. Music is one of the most power elements for mankind because there is always a story being told behind it. Some stories are happy ones, and some are very sad. Some people write their thoughts in diaries and others would just talk about it. Music is a form of poetry, but the only difference with this type of poetry would be that it has an instrumental in the background. Music may be powerful, but not a lot of people understand how powerful it may be. Some people tend to take advantage of their resources in music. In other words, some people tend to overlook songs because all they care about is the beat and a catchy hook. There is more meaning to songs because the lyrics are one of the main elements that speak to us.

This song means a lot to me because I have been through many struggles in my life. Each time I play this song in my IPOD, it makes me want to celebrate how far I have come. I would get goose bumps on my arms when I hear this music because the lyrics echo inside of me as they speak the truth about their struggles in the past. I do not have a lot of money nor do I feel successful, but knowing that I have come a long way makes me feel like I have “made it.”

  1. First of all I would like to wish your brother to get well and for your family to come together and become stronger. Sometimes we take for granted our loves one, like thinking they will always be there. Right now, I'm going though it with my brother too, I don't agree with his values and life style, so I've stopped being his sister. I know we need to talk things out but don't know if we can see eye to eye. I hope that someday soon we can be closer.

As for the song you chose I can't say I like that kind of music but I did like the meaning of the song. The song talks about having little or nothing and then moving up. One of my favorite saying is...What doesn't kill you will make you stronger. This has helped me get though some really hard times. I'm not very religion but do believe God only gives us what we can handle. This semester has been the hardest for me because I got into a car crash last month and was really worried on how I was going to make it, but I just took things day by day. This music section has help me get though it, because like the class has all been saying music doesn't just rush to the end. Music gets you from a beginning, middle, and the end of any event.

What I would like to see for you and now is not to blame your past or family for your hard times but to see how it has made you a better person. I mean so students have it so easy and don't know how lucky they are. Once you graduate I bet it will be one of the best days of your life, because no matter what you had to go though you still stayed focus and graduated. At least you know that if there are any other hard parts in life you know you will be strong enough to move forward and you "Will Make It"

  2. I like your choice of song. It has uplifting words to push you that much harder. The beat of the song makes you want to rock out on it. I can understand your life struggle with your family overall. With your dad, now your brother. I learned life isn't just to get by but to live and appreciate what you have. And you certainly learned that through family struggles and such.
I agree with you when you say music is powerful because it is. It plays a big role in a lot of peoples lives. People get through the day with music because of the beat or the lyrics. Music is definitely precious because its like a comfort for us. No matter how your feeling or what you go through, there will always be a song that fits your mood.
And for you to pick this song fits you. I can definitely feel you on the song. How good it must feel to "Make it". It's like doing the impossible and starting from scratch. Makes you feel so much more than good about yourself but for the people who you struggled with to get to where you are.
I am sorry to hear about your brother, I hope he gets well.
